Manuscriptorium is a digital library of European manuscripts, a virtual research tool which enables access to digitised historical resources. The project was initiated by the National Library of the Czech Republic. There are more than a thousand heritage objects from Vilnius University Library in Manuscriptorium.
ePaveldas (eHeritage) is an immense digital repository presenting digitised Lithuanian cultural heritage accumulated in country’s libraries, museums and archives. For those interested in our history and culture this site provides access to numerous books, newspapers, manuscripts, maps, artworks and audio recordings.
Orbis Lituaniae is a virtual museum where users can acquaint themselves with the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in a simple way. Through the means of textual, visual and audio material, one can follow the path of Lithuanian history, discover cultural and historical phenomena, legends and real facts.
Google Arts & Culture
Vilnius University Library is the first library in Lithuania to join the international Google Arts and Culture platform that currently unites over 2,000 museums, galleries and various cultural organizations around the world. Here one can discover our virtual exhibitions and other cultural treasures in extraordinary definition and detail.
The database for the project “Virtual reconstruction of the oldest academic library in Lithuania” VIRTUS, contains a digital copy and transcriptions of an 18th-century manuscript catalogue of Vilnius Jesuit Academy Library Catalogus Auctorum Ordine Alphabetico dispositus in Bibliotheca Collegii Academ[ici] Vilnen[sis]. During the course of the project we deciphered about 5,000 entries, identified the publications recorded in the catalogue, and implemented a search system in the database.
World Digital Library
World digital library is an archive of digitized cultural heritage. Here users can access digitized copies of manuscripts, maps, rare books, films, audio recordings, paintings, photos and architectural drawings from all over the world and in various languages. Vilnius University Library is the first and currently only partner representing Lithuania. The manuscripts of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – court books from the 16th–17th centuries – are presented in the World Digital Library.
Europe’s Digital Library Europeana provides millions of digitised books, maps, records, photographs, archival documents, paintings and films from European libraries, archives, museums and other memory institutions in one place. Currently Europeana hosts over 50 million objects from more than 3,500 institutions.
Over a thousand of digitized documents – manuscripts, photographs, maps, and monuments of early Lithuanian literature – represent the cultural heritage of Vilnius University library at Europeana.
